Wairarapa Field Trip

This spring, head to the Wairarapa with IPPS for a couple of days to explore an area IPPS has not previously visited. Highlights include some production and grower/retailer nurseries, stunning gardens and a visit to Pukaha Mt Bruce – the National Wildlife Centre.

Highlights:
Akura Nursery – Run by the Greater Wellington Regional Council, growing willow and poplar poles, along with selling Wairarapa eco-sourced native plants.
Clareville Nursery and Garden Centre – family-owned grower/retail business of over 30 years selling quality plants and garden products.
Norfolk Road Nursery – specialist grower of Wairarapa eco-sourced native plants.
GardenBarn – Locally owned and operated grower/retailer of a wide range of plants and garden-related products
Pukaha Mt Bruce – National Wildlife Centre and an icon of the Wairarapa area.
Stablehouse Design Gardens and Nursery – Five-star Garden of National Significance along with on-site nursery and plant brokerage services.
Longbush Cottage Gardens – Four Star NZGT modern cottage garden blending native and exotic plants.
Parkvale Gardens – naturalistic garden and nursery growing a range of rare and unusual plants.

Registration
Limited to 20 people, first in, first served. Registrations close Friday 25th September or when the maximum number is reached, whichever occurs first.

Transport can be provided from Wellington and Palmerston North is available but must be arranged at time of registration.

Depart Friday 9th October at 7.30am
Arrive back Saturday 10th October around 6pm. Make any onwards flight arrangements for Sunday 11th October
Dinner can be arranged for anyone overnighting in Palmerston North on Saturday 10th October.

Wellington – Gus Evans
Thursday 9th October – pick up from Wellington Airport 2pm.
Sunday 11th October – depart Masterton at 10am. Book flights for departure 2.30pm onwards.

11.30 – 12.30pm Clareville Nursery and Garden Centre. Hosts: Steven & Louisa Portman
12.30 – 1.30pm Lunch at Clareville Bakery (own cost)
1.45 – 3.00 Norfolk Road Nursery. Host Stephen Harlen
3.15 – 4.30 GardenBarn Hosts: Laurie and Carol Hatchard
