IPPS New Zealand Awards for 2017
The IPPS New Zealand Region presented two awards at its recent conference in Pukekohe
Jeff Elliott from Elliotts Wholesale Nursery at Amberley was presented with the Award of Merit, which is IPPS New Zealand's highest award for meritorious service to the region and horticulture in New Zealand. Jeff has been a long time member of the region, serving on the executive from 2008 - 2017. Every time there is a visit to Elliotts Wholesale Nursery, there is always something different to see as a result of Jeffs innovative approach to propagating and growing plants from dirty water recycling through to mega cuttings. Jeff was also described as an editorial nightmare but a bit of a legend among IPPS New Zealand members
Brent McKenzie from Dunedin was presented with the John Follett Award of Recognition for service to the IPPS New Zealand region. Brent joined IPPS in 1977, becoming historian in the 1980's until resigning earlier this year. He also served as President from 1990 - 92 and International Director 1993 - 94. Brent worked for a number of years at the Dunedin Botanic Garden, then at Crop and Food Research at Invermay and for the last few years, has run his own gardening business in Dunedin.
Congratulations to Jeff and Brent for their awards.
